Oil on paper. This is a painting of the Arda meanders in the Rodope mountain range. It's one of the most beautiful places to visit in Bulgaria and it is just breathtaking in autumn. In folklore, it is believed that Rodope and her brother, Hem, were deeply in love... a forbidden kind of it. They felt so much passion that they started calling each other Hera and Zeus respectively, who are siblings and lovers as well. That angered the gods a lot, who made them into two mountains, so they never be together again.

Her brother is the Balkan, called Hemus in Greek.
