That's interesting My concept was that there is a girl at the end of the alley who is walking away and also in the bottom corner a man who has to walk the other way. The atmosphere is pretty infernal though
PS Thanks so much for the other favs and the watch
Thank you so much! Palette knives aren't easier or harder to use than any other painting method... I think it is practice and what suits you best I find myself making more mistakes with brushes than with knives, which I too find odd
aha yes I totally agree. practice. practice. Perhaps I found it difficult for my first time because the knife felt foreign to me...well, compared to brushes that is. Did you use different sizes/types of knives for this piece? I was limited to only one knife back then, aha (I'm sure there are many out there who can do a lot with just one knife )
Only one knife was used for the whole thing... although the description may be misleading I did use a soft rag and some fingerwork Knives, just like brushes, are very versatile - the edge can do very precise lines (such as the ones in the heart area of the silhouette in the bottom left-hand side corner). Also, varying the amount of paint, angle and pressure applied you can do very different shapes and textures.
I do think that whether brushes, knives, pastel, pencil or whatever feel natural comes mainly from one's personal inclination towards the medium, but practice and experience greatly help The first time I painted with knives it felt like some sort of enlightenment (wow)
